Everything old is new again

Have you heard the saying that “there is nothing new under the sun”?

Certainly there are new products developed to solve a problem or simply make life better. It is that aspect of making things better and refinement that comes up again and again in the television and film industry. The technology available to us now makes for even more creativity and some absolutely spectacular watching!

It is no secret that George Lucas didn’t have the the technical sophistication he really wanted when he first made Star Wars. He has revisited that many times over to keep improving.

A lot of movies have had the “make over” treatment to develop characters, further story lines or add a “what came next”. For example Top Gun: Maverick, Jurassic Park and Venom.

And some movies just seem to get made many times over for an update. Think along the lines of A Star Is Born, Superman in all his variations, and classics like Death on the Nile and The Orient Express.

Disney have on many occasions updated its animated features into live action films with stunning CGI inclusions, such as Cruella and 101 Dalmatians.

The introduction of televisions into our everyday lives has allowed wonderful stories to draw upon and expand into new series which gives the viewers so much more to enjoy. Recent examples are Westworld, Around the World in 80 Days, Willow, Silent Running and The Lord of the Rings.
