Everything old is new again

Have you heard the saying that “there is nothing new under the sun”? Certainly there are new products developed to solve a problem or make life better.

It is that aspect of better and refinement that comes up again and again as movies are remade or expanded into a series. The technology available now makes for some spectacular watching . It is no secret that George Lucas didn’t have the the technical sophistication he really wanted when he first made Star Wars. He has revisited that many times over to keep improving.

Other titles too have had the “make over” treatment to develop characters or story lines or add a what came next. For example Top Gun :Maverick, Venom and Cruella.

Some movies just seem to get made many times over for an update. Think “A Star Is Born” and “Superman” in all its iterations. Classics Like “Death on the Nile” or the “Orient Express”. Disney has updated its animated features into live action with stunning CGI inclusions.

Television has many wonderful stories to draw on and expand into series which gives the viewer such a lot more to enjoy. Recent examples are Westworld, Around the world in 80 days, Willow, Silent Running and The Lord of the Rings.

If you love the “Oldie but a goodie”  or want to set the iterations side by side we have a lot of the posters for these original stories in our store. Titles from the 1960s through to the 1990s have the history to really make that story a talking point.
