The Last Waltz, with the famous tagline “It started as a concert… it became a celebration,” Martin Scorcese documents the farewell concert by Canadian-American rock group ‘The Band’ in November of 1976, at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. Did you know a copy of The Last Waltz is preserved in the Library of Congress deemed as culturally and historically significant.
In 1979 Britain created its own rockumentary with ‘The Who’ being filmed both in concert, backstage and in interviews with other leading lights of the time. The Kids Are Alright also became significant for its footage of the last concert performance by Keith Moon who tragically died soon after its release.
1977 saw the release of ABBA The Movie, again documenting concert and backstage events, of their tour around Australia. If you couldn’t make it to a concert on this massive worldwide tour this was a pretty good alternative.
Kiss mix up their concert work with some superpower villain chasing in the 1978 release of KISS in Attack of the Phantoms. Originally made for television however it gained a theatrical release (there are two different titles) and several poster variants.
And not to mention the array of Elvis concert compilations over the years and from multiple venues including That’s the way it is, and Elvis on Tour.
All these titles are currently listed in our Poster Shop, as well as many others in the Musical genre!
